Roger Federer to skip claycourt warm-ups ahead of French Open
December 31, 2015, 8:10 am

Roger Federer will play just one clay-court tournament in 2016 - the French Open.

The world No 2 is focusing his campaign on hard and grass surfaces, and will not play in a single warm-up tournament on clay ahead of Roland Garros.
That means he will miss three Masters 1000 events on clay at Monte Carlo, Madrid and Rome.
Federer, 34, who won the French title once, will play in two grasscourt tournaments before Wimbledon, at Stuttgart and Halle.
He will then play at Toronto before going to Rio in a bid to win a first Olympic gold medal in singles.
